Thunder's Response To The VP Choice

of John McCain. It only rated a one ear raising then a yawn of which I was not fast enough to take a pic.

ThunderOneEar.jpg

So the geezer has been trying to make an issue of what he considers the inexperience of Obama. So what does he do? He wants to put someone who has two years governor experience, of a state with a population smaller than many cities, a heartbeat away from the presidency. She then puts down her gun and bible long enough to take to the cameras spewing hot air trying to lure the Hillary voters. PUH-LEEZE. I would hope that people supporting HIllary would not vote for an anti abortion, even in cases of incest and rape, and gay rights bigot. Let's all hope people, at least most people, can vote issues and not gender and race. Wishful thinking?? We'll see.

Hillary Speaks. Great Speech Last Night

"No way, no how, no McCain"

"Barack Obama is my candidate. And he must be our president"

"My friends, it is time to take back the country we love. ...Whether you voted for me, or voted for Barack, the time is now to unite as a single party with a single purpose. We are on the same team, and none of us can sit on the sidelines. This is a fight for the future. And it's a fight we must win."

"With an agenda like that, it makes sense that George Bush and John McCain will be together next week in the Twin Cities. Because these days they're awfully hard to tell apart."

Suck It Up

It's time for Clinton supporters to get over her losing the Dems nomination, rally around Obama, and get him elected. All the drama about animosity towards Obama is only fueling the opposition and making some of her die-hard fans look childish. And it could tarnish the convention which badly needs to show America a unified party. John Geezer McCain has already done a commercial showing a Hillary supporter claiming it's ok for her and those like her to vote for him.

So my advice to former Hillary supporters is LET IT GO, move on, and remember the greater good here.

Speakers Of The House Say The Darndest Things

President Bush has been a "total failure" in everything from the economy to the war to energy policy, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday, in an interview on CNN.

"You know, God bless him, bless his heart, president of the United States, a total failure, losing all credibility with the American people on the economy, on the war, on energy, you name the subject...."

It Is Not Easy Being In Banking These Days

All the news as of late regarding the banking industry has brought out the paranoia in a lot of people. If falling interest rates were not challenging enough, the images and video of people lined up at Indymac bank to get there money out scares the holy bejeezus out of people. But wait, isn't that what the FDIC is for and you get your money in literally one or two days after they step in? Yes but that doesn't make everyone calm. And I guess if you have more than 100K under the same ownership it's understandable you would be nervous at certain banks. But please cut your local handsome banker some slack and educate yourself a bit by listening to us and researching on your own if you want, in order not to lump all institutions together.

In this day and age of cable news, the internets, and little old lady coffee clatches (why don't little old ladies trust anyone?), my days turn into trying to explain that my particular bank is safe even though it goes in one ear and out the other as some neb-crab (pittburgheese) ponders how much money she can stuff into her mattress. Today in email we got "talking points" on FDIC which could also be labled "relax, shut up and let me explain points." So if I could get people to relax and listen, including the section on how to make your accounts be insured for more than 100K, my day would be easier.

But since I have no such luck, I will continue to give out info to brick walls, I mean people.

Campaign Day # 214,654, 243

And like a never ending bad movie, the campaign just keeps going and going and going........and going. It seems like it started like116 years ago, about the same time McCain was born. The news cycle has been particularly fierce here in PA although it has tamed a bit since the state's primary is finally over and the Deomocratic Prez wannabes have traveled to their next state and round of voting.

But while the Dems are fighting, Old Man Winter, aka John McCain has been traveling around on a private plane owned by a company run by his wife. While his campaign paid for the use of it, it was nowhere near the amount he should have paid according to the campaign finance reforms he so champions. Technically he followed the law but certainly not the spirit. So in him we basically have George Bush with a side of hippocrate.

Obama's pastor, Jeremiah Wright can't shut his holy preaching yap long enough for any of the holy drama to die down. Is this guy so clueless to not relaize he is hurting himself, his church, and Obama? Now that he is making the radio and TV rounds like someone who bathes in the spotlight of their own self righteousness, he is claiming the criticism he gets is an attack on the black church. Really? An attack on the black church? Is there only one by the way? I know I have seen others. Anyway, can someone call Captain Obvious and have him tell this man that he is being criticized for insinuating we deserved the 9-11 attacks because we dropped the atomic bomb and support state terrorism against Palestinians among other things. Me thinks someone likes the spotlight too much to STFU.

And Hillary now has a poll supporting her that says she has a better chance to beat Mccain than Obama. I hope she pounds this into every voter and undecided delegate. I also hope she gets her wish to debate Obama without moderators, just one on one and free back and forth. She can then truly show the importance of experience. At any rate, man woman black white or old geezer, we will be better off when a new Prez is sworn in.

Fucked Up News...

...And the fucked up fucks who create it....

So the Govenor of New York has been caught hiring high priced hookers. Knocked off his high horse, he is "sorry" and most likely will have to resign. What is with politicians? Hookers, adultery, bathroom stalls, teenage pages, etc. I mean holy bajebus, how can people be so unbelievably stupid. Is it ego, power trips, a sense of untouchability? Probably a combination of all. Ironically these are usually people telling the rest of us how to act and live.

An Oklahoma lawmaker is warning her constituents that gays are taking over and have become more dangerous to the American way of life than terrorists. Rep. Sally Kern, an obvioulsy bright woman with no mental issues of her own other than a minor case of Bitchitis, says "The homosexual agenda is destroying the nation." Now this terrorist missed the last Homo meeting but I got a copy of the agenda, and plans for destroying the nation was actually tabled until a future meeting as everyone needed to get home for the Project Runway finale. So clearly this yapping yenta knows not what she speaks about. But what makes her a candidate for stupid-tard of the year is that she claimed that she did not know her hate speech, that she was making in a planned public speaking engagment, was being recorded. Perhaps she can ride the short bus all the way to Hell.

A Hillary and Obama ticket is being brought up more and more. Unfortunetly it's by pundits and not by the candidates. It would be a dream team. There would be some jealously over who looks better in a suit, Obama has the slender hips but Hillary works the blazer in true presidential style. But that shouldn't get in the way of running the nation, there are more important issues after all, like coming up with super weapons in the fight to get rid of gay terrorists.

Egotistical HasBeen

Ralph Nader. Really? Are we really seeing him inject himself into another election? This one time crusader against the automobile industry is now just an embarassment and needs to just go away. This man could not be more illrelevant to politics and it's sad to watch someone who at one time had a resepctable reputaion now just look silly on the national stage. Him and his Nader-Tards need to get over themselves and should instead use their energy for realistic purposes and help elect a Democratic president.

Clinton Vs Obama

One we know way too much about and one we don't know anything.

But still, I'm rooting for Hillary. I hope she gets her much needed victories in Texas and Ohio. I think she can and will make tough decisions while Obama strikes me as someone who is afraid to offend anyone and thus will back down too often or not be aggressive enough. And while no politician can keep all his or her promises, I think Hillary offers the best hope. Her experience and husband will be valuable and i like her stances on gay issues.

Opinion Piece That Makes You Think

I found this op-ed piece in the NY Times and found it a very interesting read, especially the last three paragraphs.

Basically it gives the historical value of a marriage license and how it has been used over the centuries.

So if the goal for gay people is "marriage" do we go thru the motions with churches who sanction it knowing what we have is a marriage and let the government and ignorant people catch up some day or do gay people re-write what the author seems to think are outdated rules of a piece of paper called a "license?"

This Is The Same Person Who Says The Size Of The Military Needs To Increase

From The Associated Press:
(Washington) Gen. Peter Pace, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, caused a stir at a Senate hearing Wednesday when he said he believes homosexual activity is immoral and should not be condoned by the military......
".......we should respect those who want to serve the nation but not through the law of the land, condone activity that, in my upbringing, is counter to God's law."

God's law ?? -- Puhleez. God is just the best excuse for people to give and hide behind as reasons for their own hatred.

Falwell Is Dead

Falwell, the founder of the Moral Majority and Liberty University, had a long history of opposing gay rights.

In 1976 he, along with Anita Bryant, led the charge against gay adoption in Florida leading to the most repressive anti-gay adoption law in the US.

Following the terrorist attacks in New York and Washington in 2001 Falwell declared that gays and pro choice advocates were to blame.

I don't wish death on anyone. But today my thoughts are with all the people who suffered and continue to suffer because of people like this man. I wonder if his "faith" and "values" got him what he expected on the other side.

March 29, 2007

Sigh

So congress has voted to put an end to a seemingly endless war. Bush will veto and give another middle finger to the nation. This war and his administration is such a diaster that IMHO , there has to be some kind of deadline set so there is accountibility for ending this. This was a country with no significant technological weapons or abilities and how any years have we been there? How much better has it gotten? How many lives have been lost and for what? There has to be a point that it ends and someone or some congress has to try to do it.

March 14, 2007

He Started Out Good..

The president of the leading Southern Baptist seminary has incurred sharp attacks from both the left and right by suggesting that a biological basis for homosexuality may be proven...

But then went down hill from there:

..."and that prenatal treatment to reverse gay orientation would be biblically justified."

The Rev. R. Albert Mohler Jr., one of the country's pre-eminent evangelical leaders, acknowledged that he irked many fellow conservatives with an article earlier this month saying scientific research "points to some level of biological causation" for homosexuality.

Proof of a biological basis would challenge the belief of many conservative Christians that homosexuality - which they view as sinful - is a matter of choice that can be overcome through prayer and counseling.

So even if it's biologically based its still a sin???? But not to worry, we will alter babies in the womb because we can play god. So it could go like -- Theres nothing wrong with this baby except that it does not live up to our moral code so let's turn this sinner into one of us. Where throughout history have we seen this before?

General Pace Is An Old Relic Of A Bygone Era....

...And in coming generations, his kind of thinking will be in the minority because everyone evolves, some just faster than others. And then you can scroll down for cute kitty pics!

Just In Case You Were Wondering...

...What I think of Ann Coulter -- She is an evil heartless shit-for-brains pompus head-up-her-ass horse-faced BITCH. That's B-I-T-C-H. Seriously (or Srsly), could someone just throw some water on this hag and let her melt away? Her latest rant came at the Conservative Political Action Conference sponsored by the American Conservative Union. She called presidential candidate John Edwards a faggot:

"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word 'faggot,' so I - so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."

Except for the hard core Rush Limbaugh fans out there, I'm sure most people no matter their party affiliation are at least a bit squeamish over this remark. Is it that she has to continue to say outrageous things to get any attention? I mean come on, how does this clueless person still get a platform to spew her vile from? Of course the usual demands to publicly condem the remarks has started and we will see who steps up to do so. Might I suggest a some poison in her daily bail of hay? There has got to be something that just makes her go away.

Honesty....Not Always Best Policy

"You know, I hate gay people, so I let it be known. I don't like gay people and I don’t like to be around gay people," he said. "I'm homophobic. I don't like it. It shouldn't be in the world or in the United States."

Great, another sports role model.

And as far as I am concerned, he can stick his apology up his ignorant bigoted ass. He can have his opinion, he's entitled. I'm entitled to wish him misfortune and pain. Too bad it is not my birthday, I'd make a wish.

Hmmm, hostage situation or something entirely different?

He Left It Off His Resume

BAGHDAD (CNN) -- A man sentenced to death in Kuwait for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. and French embassies now sits in Iraq's parliament as a member of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's ruling coalition, according to U.S. military intelligence,

Jamal Jafaar Mohammed's seat in parliament gives him immunity from prosecution, but Washington now says he supports Shiite insurgents and acts as an Iranian agent in Iraq.......

OK now, even I had to go through a background check for my job and it doesnt say "member of Parliament" on my business cards. He probably does consulting for Halliburton too.

Another interesting item I came across today...

DENVER, Colorado (AP) -- One of four ministers who oversaw three weeks of intensive counseling for the Rev. Ted Haggard said the disgraced minister emerged convinced that he is "completely heterosexual."

Haggard also said his sexual contact with men was limited to the former male prostitute who came forward with sexual allegations, the Rev. Tim Ralph of Larkspur told The Denver Post for a story in Tuesday's edition.....

Ummmm Yeeeeaaaahhhh. As much as I don't like you on my team You are soooooo gay. Pray all you want, god knows your gay. After all he made you that way. Now go home and tell the missus you only need her for a tax deduction.

News Happens

Open Mouth Insert Foot
Senator Joseph R. Biden Jr. of Delaware, who announced his candidacy on Wednesday with the hope that he could ride his foreign policy expertise into contention for the Democratic nomination, instead spent the day struggling to explain his description of Senator Barack Obama, the Illinois Democrat running for president, as "the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy."

Ooops. Suuuuure race will not be an issue. At least he can take comfort in knowing he has a long way to go to catch up to the blunderings of Bush.

These Are The People Who Want To Spread Democracy??
Senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, the Republican leader, said Friday that his party would unite to block Senate debate next week on a bipartisan resolution opposing President Bush's troop buildup in Iraq....

With all the hot air these old windbags have, you would think they would like to release some of it. If your argument can't stand up to a debate, you have no argument. Idiots.

Calling All Hypocrits
Veep Cheney angrily said in an interview with CNN, that the baby his lesbian daughter is carrying and his feelings about it is a private matter.

So the 'Family Values' guy in this administration now thinks it is a private matter. After initiating so many proposals to deny civil rights to gay people and spewing his own brand of hatred, all while having a family member in need of basic civil liberties, this personification of intolerance NOW decides it is a private matter? Too late Hypocrit.

Boston, WTF?
No other city thought anything of these cartoon characters including New York, Philly, Chicago, Atlanta, and several more. Turn off 24 or realize it is just a tv show. Write In Candidate

I know it is early, but since the 2008 election has started on the cable news channels, it has got me thinking about the likely candidates. I'm not sure about Obama yet. I have not done enough research or know enough about him yet including his stance on gay issues. His lack of experience gives me pause, but then that could also be a good thing.

Now Hillary I have never much cared for, in fact she scares me a little bit. But she is driven and experienced and can communicate her positions well. And elections pretty much come down to the lessor of two evils anyway. You also get Bill as part of the package. Like him or not, that can be a plus. She has been quoted as in support of full equality of benfits for gay people. Not marriage, but everything else. But she also said she would not object if the governor of her state, (NY) wins/legalizes gay marriage. So baby steps there I guess.

So really all I know is that I am still nauseous from 2004 and while replacing the asshat we have now is always a good topic, I could do without all the 2008 election coverage in the beginning of 2007. But if we have to, may I suggest:

DURHAM. N.C. (AP) -- That cup of coffee just not getting it done anymore? How about a Buzz Donut or a Buzzed Bagel? That's what Doctor Robert Bohannon, a Durham, North Carolina, molecular scientist, has come up with. Spreading Democracy

As reported in the NY Times today, Iraq's Parliment is having trouble completing their democratic duties. It seems that nearly every session since November has been adjourned without anything getting done because members, many living outside the country (wtf??) , can't be bothered to show up and without a quorum nothing happens. And these so called harbingers of democratic freedom earn upwards of 120K. I guess politicians are the same the world over.

What are we doing there again?

December 08, 2006

Minor Rant

So Mary Cheney, the lesbian daughter of Dick Cheney announced she is pregnant. This is not huge news. Maybe a grandchild from his daughter will make the war monger a little more tolerant and a little less ignorant, but doubtful. Anyway, what struck me while reading various news reports was that one focus of this event seems to be the fact that a pregnancy is ocurring with a woman named Mary. And the irony is riling some Christians conservatives as this aspect gets reported. Now come on, is that really a reportable fact that needs to be focused on? As much as I like to see some so called Christian groups in a snit, this is just a bit ridiculous.

But, reading further brought me to some not so ridiculous issues. One good point was made that Mary's partner will not be able to have a legal relationship with her child. Other groups, including that nazi-like group Focus on the Family point out things like "Love can't replace a mother and a father," or how "disappointing" it is to bring a child into a fatherless situation.

PUHLEEEZZ....

What is more important, the gender of parents or the love in that family. And what about all the heterosexual couples who bring a child into this world by "accident" or stupidity. And last time I checked, half of marriages still end in divorce, yet these "concerned" people who like to tell others how to live save their ranting for loving families who don't look like they do in their family photo. So what matters more, gender of parents or the love they create a family with. And make no mistake, same sex couples with children are families.

How A State So Conservative, They Voted Against Martin Luther King Day, Beat Anti Gay Bigotry

from BeyondChron:
After a long string of defeats, Arizona became the first state in the nation on November 7th to defeat an anti-gay marriage initiative. In 2004, thirteen states passed a constitutional amendment against marriage equality, with an average passage rate of 71%. This year, marriage amendments were on the ballot in eight states - and seven approved them. But in four states the passage rate was less than 60%, and South Dakota barely approved its amendment by 12,000 votes. More South Dakotans voted against the marriage ban than voted for an abortion ban - in a state where the overwhelming majority of voters consider themselves "pro-life." And Arizona made history by saying "no" to bigotry as it rejected its amendment by a 48-52 margin.

Good Guys Do Finish First

There was a nice blue tint surrounding everything today. It seemed to be hues of hope.

The Dems have been given a chance. They better run with it. No taking anything for granted (it loses you elections just ask some of those across the aisle). Stick to the truth, use rational reasoning, decry hypocrisy, and then run the momentum into 2008 full steam ahead.

That's My Story And I'm Sticking To It..

The Rev Ted Haggard, leader of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals, said he bought methamphetamine and received a massage from a male prostitute. But the influencial "Christian" evangelist insisted he threw the drugs away and never had sex with the man as claimed by the escort who says he was hired by Haggerd nearly every month for three years.

Yeeeeeeaaaaaahhhhh, okaaaaaay.

November 01, 2006

Open Mouth, Insert Foot

He has now apologized.
Clearly the statement was not meant the way it sounded, but he did need to apologize for saying it and the impression it gave. And now John Kerry just needs to keep a low profile for a couple weeks so as not to give ammo to the GOP blowhards who need to latch onto any little thing to spin as the election nears.

And Bush especially needs to stop trying to twist the words and actually realize that he of all people should not be screaming for an apology unless he wants to get the mea-culpas rolling by acknowledging his own missteps, lying, diaster in Iraq, and his failed policies that have hurt America in the international community.

And the big irony is that the decider-in-chief is quoted as saying "anyone who is in a position to serve his country ought (ought?) to understnd consequences of words..."
--- Yeah right, this coming from a man who cannot complete an entire sentence and has created his own language complete with mispronounced words and imcomplete sentences that are riddled with um's and uh's.

I Never Thought I Would Suggest Shopping At Wal-Mart

Tennessee Church Starts Wal-Mart Boycott Over Gay Support:
(Columbia, Tennessee) A small Tennessee church has become the first to organize a full scale boycott of Wal-Mart for its support of gays and lesbians. Trinity Family Church's 150 members have agreed to take their business elsewhere.....
........Earlier this week the American Family Association told its members to avoid shopping at Wal-Mart but stopped short of calling for a full boycott.......The AFA email called "on Christian consumers to spend their dollars elsewhere as a sign of their displeasure with Wal-Mart's pro-homosexual leanings."
A Wal-Mart spokesman says the retailer is "reaching out to a number of groups" and will "welcome and serve all customers with respect and without discrimination." --- Gee what a christian thing to do, some could learn from Wal-Mart.

Pro homosexual leanings??? Oh for fucks sake, can these groups get any more ridiculous? They are really just laughable now. How many boycotts have they tried over the years? And how many actually worked and had the consequences they intended? Umm zero. How about live and let live?

Common Sense From New Jersey Supreme Court

line.gif

Case opinion from the NJ Supreme Court Decision that says gay couples should have the same rights as married couples. The parties, seven couples, were all in commited relationships for over ten years.

http://fl1.findlaw.com/news.findlaw.com/cnn/docs/glrts/lewisharris102506opn.pdf

I am of the belief that it is about rights. It's about the legal, financial, and social benefits and protections that are deserved in a free society. And if calling it marriage is the huge hurdle with some people, fine call it civil unions, partnerships, committed unions, or best-friends-forever for all I care. It's about two people in love committed to each other and their rights. The people involved know the true meaning. There is a bigger picture than a symbolic title.

Dog Saves Owner, Dies Trying to Save Cat

ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (AP) -- After a disabled woman's cat started a house fire, her specially trained dog came to the rescue, then died trying to help the cat still in the house. Jamie Hanson said the 13-year-old dog named Jesse brought the phone so she could call 911 and also brought her artificial leg.

"She got me outside and then she heard the cat upstairs and she went up there to get the cat and she wouldn't come back to me..."

-- There is without a doubt a special place in doggie heaven for this pooch.

Condi Keeps It Real - Surprisingly

Rice's remarks at the swearing in ceremony of Mark Dybul, a gay man, as Global AIDS Cooordinator made news this week. It's too bad that treating people like human beings is big news.

.... "I am truly honored and delighted to have the opportunity to swear in Mark Dybul as our next Global AIDS Coordinator. I am pleased to do that in the presence of Mark's parents, Claire and Richard; his partner, Jason; and his mother-in-law, Marilyn. You have wonderful family to support you, Mark, and I know that's always important to us. Welcome...."

Mother-in-law.

Tsk tsk, What's a god-fearing right wing hard core evangelical to do? Oh that's right, shoot their mouths off.

Family Research Council:
"We have to face the fact that putting a homosexual in charge of AIDS policy is a bit like putting the fox in charge of the henhouse....." and ....."profoundly offensive...."
And on and on it, same old crap from those that use Jesus to hate.

gay_000306marriage.gif

Ironically, The major aspect of AIDS education is abstinence, something preached by many of the religious leaders and their followers who get all excited about two people in love making a family. Where in the bible does it talk of hypocracy and hatred? Is it next to love thy neighbor? Or near the part that claims God made everyone?

Is it wrong to find this funny? Does it make me a bad person? Oh the jokes that can be made.

MSNBC: Hastert says dismissals may follow Foley probe
(Washington) House Speaker Dennis Hastert said Tuesday he'll dismiss anyone on his staff found to have covered up concerns about ex-Rep. Mark Foley's approaches to former pages.......

Good to hear Mr. Hastert. Don't let the door hit you in your intolerant ass on the way out as you try to save it by claiming you had nothing to do with the cover-up.

Bush administration wants sanctions for North Korea....

Yeah that will do some good.

The Bush administration rejected anew Tuesday direct talks with North Korea and said it would not be intimidated by the reported threat.......

Right, who needs diplomacy or any hint of a Foreign Policy. I believe all our guns and soldiers are occupied elsewhere on one of your crusades, so maybe it's time to reevaluate the "keep at arms length" strategy that fails time and time again.

Driver obeys navigation system, no matter what

BERLIN (Reuters) - An 80-year-old German motorist obediently following his navigation system ignored a motorway "closed for construction" sign and crashed his Mercedes into a pile of sand further down the road, police said Monday..........."The driver was following the orders from his navigation system and even though there was a sufficient number of warnings and barricades, he continued his journey into the construction site,"a police spokeswoman told Reuters.

His turn signal was probably on the whole way as he was dertermined to get to Old Country Buffet.

Man recites pi to 100000 places

Look In The Mirror

Alcoholic. Gay. Possible victim of molestation.

Could a lawyer and his client brainstorming for damage control only come up with only three diversions?

Alcoholism does not make you a victim.
Being gay does not make you a victim or a pedophile.
Being molested is not an excuse to engage in inappropriate behavior with teenagers.

Many Republicans have now turned the spotlight of this set of events on their own party, diverting it from Mark Foley. Ironically the party of "family values" seems to have tried to shield one of their own by not acting on tips of inappropriate behavior a few years ago and even having more specifics provided only months ago. Have they now become immune to the stench of their own hypocrisy? So out of his hole climbs New Gingrich to explain on Fox News (of course) that if they would have acted they would have been accused of homophobia. If I can paraphrase Desmond Tutu, if you know about injustice and do nothing, you are just as bad as the aggressor.

FACT: Homophobia has nothing to do with this. It is about inappropriate behavior towards minors. The GOP leadership directing the story towards gays is the height of irresponsibility and the audacity even for a group of people with a history of bigotry, is outrageous in the face of their cover-up.

FACT: According The Journal of the American Medical Association, 90 percent of pedophiles are men, and that 98 percent of those men are heterosexual.

So as much as some of the self righteous hate mongering idiots in the GOP want to blame gays, they have to go no farther than Foley himself and then a step farther into their own hearts and consciousness'. For many it will be a first time, but there are already a few stepping up. Those that continue to try to sheild the persons responsible for cover-ups should have the light of the sun shone on their behavior for the rest of their lives.
