Don't you have damage from Finn's nails? My son is facing a decision on having his 2 adopted kitties declawed. Cruel beyond words but they are shreading everything he owns.
There are little scratches here and there just from him playing not from purposly scratching it. But nothing too destructive, kinds of adds character. Has he tried regular trimming of claws to keep them short and having scratching posts around?
My house is full of "character" but why must it smell like cat piss? I bought them a cat post earlier today and I go there Sunday's to clip their nails. Grandma's never rest.

Try a scented candle, perhaps "morning dew" or "cat piss-away"
