Counting Down To Beach Time

4 more days till fun and sun. It's also birthday weekend for the BF so gotta think of something fun to get. Oh the pressure, I need a vacation. Oh wait.....

Sounds You Don't Want To Hear From Your Cat

Kitty Witty knocking a roll of quarters off the counter onto a tile floor at 3 a.m. producing just enough of a loud, unfamiliar scary horror movie noise to make you just about jump out of the window.

The "WTF" meow from behind a closed closet door. The one that sounds like the Furball of Fun is saying "let me out before I go poopies on your new shirt and under a few things you might not find for awhile."

The sliding of claws across wood floors, also at 3 a.m., into chairs, baseboards, etc as little Sweetie Pie has trouble stopping while chasing the toy mouse he just batted across the room.

The shrieking sound Puddy Tat makes as he gets his tail caught in the refridgerator door as he inspects what is in there as you stand looking (hoping) there is something good to eat, but does not move out of the way in time as the door closes in on him.

But the most enjoyable sound:
The purring from Finny Finn Finn Finnmeister Finnigan as he snuggles up on my chest after I get in bed (as long as I get in bed before 3 a.m. play time).

I Have Reservations

No not that kind. I made reservations for the weekend of Aug 3rd for the Jersey Shore, specifically Wildwood New Jersey. Jeff and I are going to get out of Pittsburgh and head for the ocean for a few days and just be beach bums. A little fun on the boardwalk, a day in Ocean City, and possibly a quick jaunt to Atlantic City for some slots fun will round out the weekend.

It will be so nice to get away. Even though it's only for a few days, I haven't had anything that resembled a real vacation in years so I'm pretty excited to go and have some summertime fun.

Is It Really A Hard Question?

A couple good points came out of the You Tube/CNN Democratic Presidentail debate. It was interesting and varied as real people asked real no BS questions and pretty much made the candidates give real no BS answers, at least for the most part. But one lesbian couple asked the President wannabe's if they would allow them to get married. John Edwards was also challenged for inserting his religion to decalre his opposition to gay marriage.

So a question for everyone everywhere would be: Would you want your children, human beings who happen to be born gay, to have the same rights as heterosexual American citizen human beings? Especially when it can be accomplished via civil unions? I feel sorry for those that find this a hard question to answer.

Hey, Hi, Yo, Sup

NEW HEADLINES TODAY:

-- Bush will have colonoscopy...
During this routine procedure presidential powers will be temporarily handed over to Vice President Cheney....

Great. Now the power will belong to a shoot-em-in-the-face war monger with an itchy trigger finger. At least with the buffoon in charge, he could be distracted with shiney keys or his mamma's pearls if he gets out of hand.

-- Computer program can't lose at checkers...
Canadian researchers report they have "solved" checkers, developing a program that cannot lose in a game popular with young and old alike for more than a thousand years.......The checkers research was supported by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, Alberta's provincial technology organization iCORE, Canada Foundation for Innovation, Western Canada Research Grid and the University of Alberta.

Well Great day in the morning, it's about time someone created something to bring down the game of checkers. What's assanine about this is that the article went on to say how it took 18 years and who knows how much money by the sponsors. Seriously, can people really make a living doing this? Are there really people that will pay for this type of "research?" Good for them, that will be something to tell the grandkids about someday.

-- Nigerian kids browse porn on laptops donated from a US aid organization....

Welcome to the internet, kids. Don't forget your Myspace profiles.

The 411 For 2day

Day off work today. It felt really good to not hear my evil alarm clock shatter my quiet slumber and to just lay in bed playing with Finnigan after waking up. But for a day of not having to do anything, I actually got a lot done.

Washed the car, so it should be raining any time now.
Went and saw Alison at her gallery and had a nice lunch. It was great to have some face time, it seemed like six years since we have had quality conversation time.
Did some laundry and paid some bills - ugh
Ran some errands, groceries etc.
Went to the JCC and worked out.
Haven't read the paper yet or watch the news so nothing to piss me off.

Tonight Jeff comes over for a quiet evening, some food and movie watching.

Only 14 hours till the evil alarm clock goes off again, but till then relaxation is the plan.

Peace out y'all

Ass + Clown = G W Bush

Seriuosly, how in the world did this guy get to this position in life? My head almost explodes trying to figure it out. I can't pick up a newspaper anymore without getting pissed off.

Bush: The President admits that the CIA leak likely came from his administration and it's time to move on.

-- yeah so pardon the guilty and payoff some political favors. I guess when the population and the world thinks so lowly of you, it doesn't matter what you do anymore.

Rice to Iraq Critics: "Give us a chance for results"

-- Seriously? No really, seriously? Did you just ask for time to get results in Iraq? Check under the skirt because that takes some major cajones. How many years has it been and how many lives lost in a country that had no connection to 9-11 and was thrust into a civil war which the US military is now a part of? I mean come on.

Bush: The Iraq benchmarks report is "Cause for optimism."

Optimism? Ummm only 8 of 18 can be reported to have satisfactory progress. Now that may be a great test score for you personally, but less than half of the goals met -- not so good Tex.

Sigh

Who Knew...

...That relationships take effort and work. I mean, communication, trust, personalities, learning new things about each other, etc. It's can be exhausting. But still fun. Everything is still going great. So that's a little update in the Brent/Jeff saga for this week.

In other World of Brent news:

Yesterday my softball team played two games aginst two very good teams and we won both. I played awesome if I do say so myself. With last week's wins we have won four in a row which is pretty good for our little start up team. Although last week the team we played was pretty bad but a W is still a W in the standings so we'll take it.

My throat/tonsil issues are all better. I have one more day of the antibiotics which I will be glad to be done with as they make me a bit queasy, especially if I am not able to take them with food. But they worked great so it's all worth it.

And since my leg is back to normal too, I can safely resume my superhero duties.

My networking group had our monthly event this past week and we had over 40 people turn out. So that was a big success. I'm happy that the efforts of myself and the other board members are starting to pay off.

Say Ahhh

I got a sore throat a few days ago. I figured I was getting sick and thinking how craptacular that would be. While washing my hands in the bathroom sink at work and in front of the mirror, I decided to put all my medical knowledge to use and I opend my mouth like a hippo singing opera in order to see how irritated my throat was. What I saw just past my pearly whites was this ugly grayish gob-like thing sticking out of the left side. Now the first thing that went through my mind was "gross, I have food stuck back there, no wonder it hurts." Yes that was stupid, but it was the first thing that went through my mind. I was at work so the daily dumbing down process had started. Anyway, upon poking it with the end of a spoon shoved ever so carefully down my pie hole, I discovered it was indeed attached. At this point, the thought going through my mind is now "hello Mr. Tumor." So a little googling and a call to a doctor reassured me that my tonsils were inflamed. A couple days of gargling warm salt water while sucking down cough drops like an old lady enjoying her hard candy did not do much to relieve my throat which was now causing headaches. So the good Doc got me some antibiotics which I started taking yesterday. One pill three times a day hopefully will prevent the extraction of anything from my mouth-neck area. I think it has started to kick in and give me a bit of relief already so fingers crossed.

It's Sat-Ur-Day

SO glad it's Saturday. I slept in this morning and laid in bed for another hour after I woke up. It felt so good after a long week at work. Yes even with the day off for the 4th in the middle of it, the work week kicked my ass. Seriously, why does the man have to hold me down? I think I have lost the last little bit of my soul to the allmighty corporation. But today I skip the alarm clock and sleep. Nothing but coffee, the New York Times, and my couch for the whole afternoon.

Last night Jeff (the BF) finally met Alison and Paul as we met up for some yummy banana ice cream at Cold Stone. Yay for him meeting some family. He was nervous, it was cute. Good time and fun conversation had by all.

Mullet Alert
Tonight Jeff and I are traveling back to the 1980's. No not in some magical time machine or by way of a drug induced trip, but by going to a Def Leppard concert. Special guests include Styxx and REO Speedwagon. His neighbors got tickets and invited us to come along. I kind of hope they are lip synching since they are about 100 years old by now, but we'll see.
