Opening Day
Yesterday was opening day for softball. It was a great day, sunny and warm. We played a good team and even though we tried to get them all really drunk at the league bash the night before, we lost by one run and due to an error. It was the bottom of the last inning and our runner on third did not tag up on a fly ball. He just took off and was pretty much oblivious at all of us on the bench yelling at him to go back to the base. The third base coach should have made him come back too but was watching the action in the outfield. I should have took him some popcorn and a chair to relax in if he was just going to watch. But mistakes do happen and the guy felt bad. I told him we all do something like that at some point during the season and at least he got his out of the way early. In the end, we lost to a pretty good and long established team and for a team like mine that has mostly all new people on it, it was still a good first outing for us. It was really fun and I'm having a great time with everyone in the league so I'm really glad I joined up.
Between practice Saturday and the game Sunday I pulled, strained, wrenched, broke, twisted, cut off, bruised, and/or otherwise hurt my arm. It was pretty sore last night on my inside arm along my elbow. So being the doctor and self-diagnoser that I am, I Google and try to look up my arm issue and all I read about is ripped tendons, torn this and that and the word surgery keeps popping up. Could my playing days be over before I even cash the million dollar sign-on bonus? But luckily after being really sore this morning it started to feel better after moving it around a bit as the day went on. It's still a bit sore but much better than yesterday so I can tell it will pass with some being careful on my part. My office reeked of "Icy Hot" all day though. I don't think the senior citizens noticed too much being doused odd smelling lotions themselves, but a coworker wondered what was up with the ben-gay aroma wafting through the air. So my promising career in big gay softball seems ok, I'll just take it easy on the arm in practice tomorrow.

It's not important if you win or lose, as long as your having fun.
But winning does make it more fun!
