I'm Not Listening Anymore

That's right, I'm tuning people out. Working my whole adult life in some form of customer service has enabled me to get good at pretending to have empathy, agreement, and to look like I give a flying fig newton at what some people say.
Oh yes there's more......
There was a time you could walk into your local business, let's just blindly pick a random business like a bank, and one could see the same person for years. Good old Thelma Lou was always behind the counter or Mr. Larry Lifer sitting in the office for what seems like decades as you aged from a perkyl itlle lady in your twenties to your current crotchity self. Now I must say that I have the utmost respect for the older generation who shaped and built this country. And being a complainer about everything is not solely an older persons issue. There are people of all ages who can be pissy, selfish, and think the world should get out their way.
But the days are gone when people stay in the same position or location for years on end. And guess what? It does not affect how your transaction happens, the kind of rules that are in place, or how your life after walking outside is affected. I try to explain to the people who complain daily that the people who have moved on from our branch have done so not because they have left the company or because the new faces you see are evil and we all have them tied up in the basement. But rather they have been promoted or moved to new branhces close to their homes thus lessening their commute. Sounds reasonable right? It's good that people they like now make more money, gotten what they deserved, or have more time to spend with their family right? Nope. It's just another sign of the apocolypse because only certain people can take your deposit slip or explain how to put your card into the ATM right side up. It's nice to know people you deal with, but with few exceptions the bank teller, cashier, deli worker and others are just working for a living. They may like you and like getting to know you as I do in my job, but I'm always surprised at the people who always complain, not just once but daily. I see it at my job, in the supermarket, restaurants etc. And no matter what you say it's not good enough because there has to be something to complain about.
Let's face it, I can be just as pissed off at the world as the next person, I may have even posted a rant or two on this site, but geez Louise Lucy Ricky Fred and Ethel, Quit yer bitchin already. Life's too short, why go around feeling like that all the time?

Did anyone else get the giggles at his "I may have posted a rant or two at this site"?

I totally agree! When we went to Manistee for our first rv trip, we were suppose to have a "pull-thru" site. They wrote it up as a "back-in" site. they even had us in the puter for a "pull-thru" site. But were totally booked! The clerk offered to get the manager, but I said Although I preferred the pull-thru site, Since they were booked, I'd make the back-in site work. And I did. People make mistakes, and this really wasn't that big a deal.
When I checked out, they gave me the site for half price!
Save the fights for the important stuff!

I gave up complaining some time ago. You have to pick and choose your battles. I've learned because of Katrina that most of the bullshit isn't worth worrying about ever.

Is today some kind of official rant holiday or something? Everybody (including me) seem to be off on this kind of tangent. Must be Bush's fault.

Bush does really piss me off, so yes it's his fault.
