Speaking Of X-Mas Shopping

There are companies that are more friendly to the gay community than others. For instance, Best Buy is good, Radio Shack is bad. HRC.org has a guide that rates companies. Random qucik snapshot for example:

Good:
Target / Sears / Macy's / Gap / Staples / Hall Mark / Rite Aid / Home Depot / Costco /
Borders / Walgreens / BP gas
Nike / Levi Strauss / Liz Claiborne / Apple / Kodak / HP / Mattel
** Wal Mart is being boycotted by some christain groups for their inclusion policies so they make the good list.

Bad:
Mens Wearhouse / Little Tikes / Toys R Us / Meijer / Kroger / Avon / Exxon

It's hard to always be a consciencious consumer but please try to keep in mind those companies that value all people. Heck don't be afraid to ask a store manager if you want to find out.

I know it has been a while but, I still haven't been able to shop at JC Penny's since they pulled all their advertising when Ellen Degeneres decided to come out.

The Jackson Road, Zeeb Meijer may be rebellious because they have quite a few gay employees. I wonder if they are overcoming huge industry obstacles.... : (

UhOh...there goes that gift certificate to J.C. Penney, Brent. So.. What was your second choice?

When you say "friendly to the gay community" does that mean you get a special discount card? Can I borrow it?

JC Penny got a 50. Could be worse but could be better too. Lower scores can be for various reasons and one must judge on what they consider important factors. JCP for instance does have sexual orientation in their discrimination policy and they offer benefits to same sex couples...so it's a judgement call. But Brad reminded me of the Ellen issues they had so that sticks in my mind now. Meijer, I was suprised to find out has nothing for benefits or basic discrimination policy. That is ridiculous for this day and age.

Lil, sorry along with the discount card you have to know the secret handshake.
