I want a little pussy

HA -- Gotcha

I went to the management office of my building today and inquired about the pet policy. My lease as I discovered today forbids pets but I have seen a few in my building including a couple cuties that sit in the hallway between two doors of people across the hall from each other and they leave them ajar from time to time to allow the kitties to wander back and forth between the two apartments. They often sit and watch people enter the hallway from the elevator area. I think of them as trained guard kitties that can spring into action if there was an emergency including the "break glass in case of emergency" alarms and using the fire hoses that are at each end of the hallway. Capturing robbers by tripping them with toy mice is another talent of theirs.
I have a vivid imagination and personification of kitties amuses me.

Anyway, it turns out that cats are allowed under my lease which they will amend with a $250 pet deposit. This is in addition to the $700 deposit I paid when I moved in. $250 is not too bad, I was thinking it would be more. So I fgure with that and the adoption fee ($55-$100) and this $169 cat tree that I just have to have, we are talking close to $500. So while it may be a bit longer (like a couple more paychecks) I shall be getting a feline friend in the near future.

Picking out a cat for adoption is going to be tough. I have been looking online at the cats up for adoption in my area by the various shelters. The ones online are only a fraction of the cats available and I can't imagine deciding when I actually go in person to meet and handle the cats. Just from the little background stories posted on the internet about each pet makes me want to bring them all home. I mean I figured it would be at least another 30-35 years before I became a crazy old cat person. Stay tuned....

Just caught the title - HA.
I did go to the animal shelter recently looking for kitty #3. Dozens of kittens and older cats and I wasn't able to make a love connection with any of them. Looking for just the right sex, age, color and temperment to fit in with the rest of the family. It's a 15 year commitment, 4 if you leave the door open. You know you could get a kitten free through the paper but you're just encouraging irresponsible owners. Take your time.

i MUST be involved in the hunt for the perfect kitty...in case you didn't know, i have some expertise in that area... :)

Lil, you may want to invest in the automatic door closers. Also, look before you back the car up.

Still cheaper and easier than the dog. Believe me, I know...
