Brentology.com: Weekly wrap up

This week was kind of hectic at work even though I had a day off for the holiday. The new Mgr seems to be working out ok. We get along well and she recognizes that I do much more to contrinute to the success of the office than Crazy does. Today I had a great converstaion with my Regional Manager who came out to visit specifically to talk to me. We spoke of conditions at the office recently and I gave my professioanl assessment and view of all the drama and reiterated that I can speak for myself and would when I have issues that could not be solved among ourselves and needed her attention, and would not like being lumped by association into the views expressed by others. For instance, Crazy tends to assume I feel the same way she does when she bitches about something. I am of the opinion that we are professional adults and can handle our own issues in our office without the need to bother the higher-ups with things that are often petty. So it felt good to get that off my chest. She also talked about my career path and had some positive things to say that gave me some new reasons to look forwrd to the future with my company.

Also this week I joined an organization called Thursday Night Live named for the fact that monthly meetings are held on Thursdays at different local restaurants/bars. It is a LGTB professioanl organization designed for gay professionals in Pittsburgh to network and discuss trends affecting our community. It also advances the learning of other professions and career advancement. Besides Networking, the membership also partners with local charitable organizations to perform community service and help with fundraising events. So my first mixer this week went well, lots of good food and drinks while getting to know people and learning more about the group. So I'm pretty excited about how much I enjoyed myslef and am looking forward to future meetings and events. Hmm, maybe I can get work to pay the membership dues?

This weekend is supposed to be nice weather wise so I may head downtown to the festivites that are going on for next weeks All Star game. But first on my list of things to do is sleep in tomorrow. I'm also on kitty duty while Alison and Paul head to Michigan for another wedding.
