Caribou Coffee pondering - broadening horizons?
Ok,
Made the move. Holiday's are done. Am settled in and comfortable in my new city and job.
So, I guess it's time to put myself out there and start living life. For as much as I like going out and trying new things, I have the tendencies of an introvert. I like new experiences and social situations, but get too comfy enjoying quiet evenings, relaxing and being content lounging on the couch with my music, crosswords, and cable news.
That being said, I joined an online social network that lets you network with local people both socially and professionally by joining or starting forums. They range from business, sports, politics, and different causes. You can also become an eActivist and do your part to support candidates and causes and getting out the vote. I studied it a bit and heard some good feedback so I think I will enjoy it.
I also will be attending an open house the first week of April at the Gay and Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh which is right in my neighborhood. It is scheduled to be a night of meeting the board of directors of the center as well as a tour of the facilities followed by discussions of issues. It is also a chance to meet representatives of other organizations through which I would like to, in the near future, volunteer at. It will be a good informational showcase of some groups or clubs I would be interested in joining.
I was looking into the spring season of a local softball league but I will have to take a pass on that this season. There may be a late summer/fall season though.
Of cousre thanks to Paul I am playing racquetball again and learning guitar, chord by chord.
Eh, it's a start
