It's how you say it

Our local branches were given $100 budgets to go out and buy Steeler football items to decorate our barnches for the Super Bowl. Our regional managers visited branches today to "judge" and the branch that did the best job of hanging balloons and streamers colored black and gold won lunch for the staff. Evidently our efforts did not make our branch tacky enough and instead of keeping it fun as was first intended, it was commented how some other branches had great spirit and went all out and said it in a way that made the staff feel they somehow failed ??? So besides the fact that most employees can think of better things to do with the $500 spent on football cookies and posters, no one made it clear just how ridiculous looking we were supposed to make our financial institution look while trying to make little old ladies trust us as professional guardians of their money. Kudos to the corporate brainiacs for taking another shot at morale over decorations.

Tomorrow, I am taking the branch credit card and buying lunch for the staff.

You go Brent! What a good manager you are! I was slightly annoyed too after reading that one.

You clearly haven't been in Pittsburgh long enough. ;)
There is NO LIMIT as to the tackyness required when it comes to Steelers decoration. Steelers and "over the top" can never be used in the same sentence. No such thing.
